Facilitating under-privileged segments Govt’s prime concern: Priya Sethi

Jammu, August 18, (Scoop News)-Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi said that the present government is laying focused attention on facilitating the under privileged segments of the society through numerous social welfare schemes launched for the purpose.
The Minister was speaking at an awareness camp organized here today by the Social Welfare Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the Government has taken several reformative measures to facilitate the beneficiaries under various state and centrally sponsored schemes. She called upon the concerned officers to adopt a pro-active approach in implementing these schemes so that the benefits of all welfare schemes reach to the deserving people.
Terming the role of Social Welfare Department in raising socio-economic standards of poor people as of great significance, she expressed optimism that the department would continue its noble services with the same spirit and zeal. She said that the department has the mandate to help the poorest of the poor and destitute and everyone has to work with missionary spirit to provide succor to these needy sections of the society.
Priya Sethi highlighted various achievements of the Government in various sectors including IIT, IIMC, FCI besides implementation of welfare schemes including Beti Bacho Beti Padhao, National Pensioners Scheme, National Section Assistance Programme and Integrated Social Welfare Scheme. She emphasized upon the officers to make sure that these schemes are implemented in letter and spirit and the people get optimum benefits from the same.
Spelling out other initiatives of the government, the Minister said that Rs 200 crore have been kept for construction of multi storey parking at B C Road to ease out traffic congestion there. She said Rs 1 crore have been invested on renovation of Ranbir Higher Secondary School while various initiatives are being taken up to provide free education to girls in schools besides 100 Government playway schools have been started across Jammu.
Later, the Minister distributed cheques among widows, students and pensioners under various welfare schemes like Beti Bacho Beti Padhao, National Pensioners Scheme, National Section Assistance Programme and Integrated Social Welfare Scheme.
Senior leader Yudhvir Sethi and other concerned officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
