DM Kathua reviews law and order situation
Calls for close synergy between police, civil authorities

Kathua, September 12, (Scoop News)-District Magistrate Kathua Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting of police and civil authorities to discuss prevailing law and order situation and evolving an effective mechanism to reach out to people to address their grievances.
He called for effective co-ordination between police and civil authorities.
The meeting was attended by SSP Suleman Choudhary, ADC Rashpal Singh, ASP Khalil Poswal, ACR, Tehsildars, SDPOs and SHOs.
The DM urged upon the officers to work with more zeal and dedication, reach out to the public and address their grievances. He stressed upon them to be accessible to the common citizen and be pro-active in ensuring time bound resolution of their grievances.
To regulate traffic and minimize accidents, the DM exhorted upon the Tehsildars of hilly tehsils to maintain close vigil to check overloading and other violations by public transport operators. He called for strict action against those found violating road safety norms. He also stressed on providing regular feedback regarding requirement of additional passenger vehicles on different routes to curb the menace of overloading.
The DM further emphasized on close co-ordination among civil and police administration by sharing vital inputs on regular basis to prevent untoward incident and security breach. He also stressed for organizing public meetings especially at far off places to constitute citizen councils for providing feedback and assistance during tiring times. Tehsildars are advised to strengthen their information resources by building confidence among lambardars and chowkidars.
The DM underlined the need for adopting conflict resolving approach to strengthen interdepartmental coordination and enhancing people’s belief in effective governance. He further directed police and civil officials to make proper security and other essential arrangements for the ensuing Navratras.
The DM also called for launching intensive anti-encroachment drives along the National Highway, markets, state and kahcharai land.
The SSP asked the revenue officials to convey schedule of anti encroachments drive in advance so that proper security mechanism can be planned to make the drive successful.
The Tehsildars and Police officers interacted with the DM and shared their valuable suggestions/instructions for maintenance of law and order and give impetus to the developmental activities across the district.
