Shrine Board members inspect facilities on Tarakote Marg




Katra, September 13, (Scoop News)-On the request of Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, a Committee of Shrine Board Members today inspected the wayside and other essential infrastructural facilities on the upcoming Tarakote Marg.


The team of Board Members comprised Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Dr. Ashok Bhan, Justice (Retd) Permod Kohli, H. L. Maini and Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma.


Jitendra Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Anshul Garg, Additional CEO and besides concerned engineers and other officers of the Shrine Board accompanied the Committee which made an assessment of the various wayside facilities already put on ground and the remaining issues on which the work is progressing at a good pace.


The Committee enquired the status of availability of Water and Power supply, Medicare facilities, Bhojanalayas, View Points, Toilet Blocks, Sanitation and other essential logistics required for facilitation of the pilgrims. Further, they inspected the arrangements being made in regard to the safety and security of the pilgrims.


On this issue CEO apprised the Committee that in the interest of safety and security of pilgrims the study for slopes stabilisation has been got conducted by THDCIL and the work has been allotted for carrying out the slope-stabilisation as per the recommendations of THDCIL.


The Committee carried out an inspection of the identified vulnerable locations where shelter sheds are required to be constructed and the slopes which need stabilisation measures for ensuring safety and security of the pilgrims against shooting stones and landslides.


During the visit, the Board Members also inspected the present status of the construction of Link Road from Gulshan Langar to link Tarakote Marg. They enquired from the concerned engineers about the men and machinery deployed, work already completed and quantum of work which still remains to be done.


CEO informed the Board Members that the work on the various components of the Link Road is going on a fast track basis, for its speedy completion.


It is pertinent to mention that the Board Members inspected the Tarakote Marg in view of the directions of the National Green Tribunal regarding urgent operationalisation of the Tarakote Marg for the on-foot movements of pilgrims.
