| World Mental Health Day observed in JU | |
Jammu, October 10, (Scoop News)- P.G. Department of Psychology, University of Jammu today celebrated “World Mental Health Day”, which started with on-the-spot poster making competition on theme “Mental Health in Workplace.”
The students of the department participated and were judged by Dr. Abhishek Chauhan, Psychiatrist, G.M.C, Jammu, Professor Rajni Dhingra, faculty, Department of Home Science, Dean Life Sciences and Dr. Sanjay Sharma, faculty, Department of Environment Sciences.
The first position was bagged by Savita, second by Nitasha Singh Bali, third by Aalia Naoor and the consolation prize was given to Amandeep Kour Nanda
Dr. Chandra Shekhar, Assistant Professor, P.G. Department of Psychology, welcomed the guests on the occasion. Riffat Malik, Pallavi Anand, Vishal Dogra and Roshni Handa, spoke about the prevalent workplace issues like workplace bullying, stress and anxiety along with its remedial measures.
The resource person, Dr. Abhishek Chauhan emphasized the need of mental health at workplace in today’s scenario, recognizing its relevance in various organizational settings such as corporate sectors and armed forces. He stressed on the role played by external factors such as environmental and job related factors, in addition to internal factors and the importance of maintaining work-life balance.
Focusing on this issue Professor Rajni Dhingra, also provided insight into the various initiatives taken up by the University Grants Commission (UGC) towards making mental health counseling cells as a mandatory part of the all educational institutions.
As a token of appreciation, mementos were presented to the dignitaries by the Head of the Department, Professor Arti Bakhshi, followed by vote of thanks.
