NC women’s wing holds protest against braid chopping incidents
Demands immediate arrest of perpetrators of such crimes

Srinagar, October 10, (Scoop News)-Denouncing the continuous spree of braid chopping incidents in the valley, National Conference Women’s wing Tuesday staged protest blaming the incumbent PDP BJP government for its failure of providing safe environment for women in the state.
Shouting anti government slogans, the women activists led by NC provincial president and MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous, took out a protest rally from the party headquarters Nawa e Subha, but were stopped by police near TRC Crossing.
Castigating the state government for its failure in identifying and arresting the perpetrators of such crimes, Shamima Firdous said, “It is such a shame that the state with a women chief minister is doing nothing as far the security of our women folk is concerned. The situation has reached to such an extent that now our mothers and sisters are feeling unsafe even within the confines of their homes. Men now hesitate to go out of their houses and prefer to stay with their families.”
Demanding resignation of the Chief Minister Firdous said, “It is the responsibility of the government to provide safety to its citizens. Since they have failed to do so, its better they leave the chair and let people take care of their affairs,” adding, “This government has failed in providing good and effective governance to the people of the state. Now they can’t even protect the dignity of our women folk. The CM has failed to assuage the fears of the people of the state. Instead of being proactive she has confined herself to issuing rhetoric statements.”
Asking the government to pull up its men and machinery, the protesters reiterated their resolve of coming out on roads once again until the perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice. “Even after close to over 40 incidents of braid chopping throughout the valley, the police and the administration are playing ping pong blaming people and casting aspirations on the victims. Their primary job is to identify and arrest these people who have wreaked havoc with the lives of common citizens,” she added.
