Buddhist Deptt. students of JU hold protest demonstration, allege shortage of teachers in faculty



Ladakh /Jammu, October 11, (Scoop News)-Students of Buddhist department held a protest demonstration inside University Campus on Wednesday under the aegis of National Students Union of India (NSUI).

Expressing anguish, students boycotted their classes due to non availability of teachers in the department. Only 3 teachers are available in the faculty which includes Head of Department (HoD), an Assistant Professor and third one is retained on the contract basis.

Avijot Singh spoke how the students of Buddhist Studies suffer without teachers and said University is not following up guidelines as prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to run a Post Graduation department.

The University authorities are directly playing with the career of students, he charged and said this attitude demonstrates their ignorance towards a particular department.

Vikas Badoria also addressed the protesting students and said the University Administration's behaviour was against the girl students of Buddhist department.

" Many girls belong to far flung areas of the state in our department and they no hostel facilities were provided to them within the campus," Badoria said.

The students threatened that they would continue with their protest demonstration till their demands were not met. ...
