AAC expresses concern over unabated incidents of braid chopping
alleges callous approach of authorities towards issue



Srinagar, October 18, (Scoop News)-An extraordinary meeting was held at Awami Action Committee (AAC) headquarters Mirwaiz Manzil in downtown area of capital city under the leadership of AAC patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The meeting expressed concern over the unabated incidents of braid chopping and the callous approach of the government towards the issue which has triggered a new wave of fear among the women folk across Kashmir.
The meeting said that all the claims of the government regarding putting an end to braid cutting incidents have proved futile.

During the meeting, Mirwaiz met various delegations of youth who apprised him about framing of local level committees for night and day vigil to keep braid choppers at bay.

Mirwaiz while praising the efforts youth, said that people of Kashmir, especially the youth, have always led the way and worked against all odds in the past and he was hopeful the fresh moves to instill fear among people will also be defeated.

He said that its time for steadfastness and unity among the people to defeat all evil designs of agencies who are hell-bent to weaken the movement.

Strongly condemning the killing of a teacher Aijaz Ahmed Lone, Mirwaiz said such killings are highly condemnable and there can be no space for such dastardly acts in any civilised society.

Mirwaiz also condemned the use of alleged force on the people of Warhama Sallar, Anantnag stating that the use of force has become a routine affair of forces now. He said even people are not allowed to raise voice against genuine issues and instead are showered with pellets and teargas shells.

Meanwhile, APHC spokesman said that APHC leader will address the congregational Friday gathering at the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Noorudin Noorani at Charar-e- Shareef on Friday (October 20th) where he will also pay tributes to revered saint....
