Zulfkar for installing PoS machines in every ration depot
Zulfkar, Ganga launch new system in Samba

Jammu, November 12, (Scoop News)-Terming it as the biggest reform in bringing transparency in Public Distribution System, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today said the government will install Point of Sale (POS) machines in all fair price shops and ration depots across the state.
The Minister said this after launching a POS machine at Government Sale Depot, Vijaypur in the presence of Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga.
The Ministers also started the functioning of POS machines at Fair Price Shop, Bari Brahmana and Government Sale Depot, Samba.
Speaking on the occasion, Zulfkar Ali informed that these machines are connected to a server that uploads every transaction on the portal and can be monitored in any part of the country anytime. These Aadhar linked POS machines also display price, scale and credentials of the consumer which leaves no space for any malpractice in the system, he added.
Stressing that the government has taken a giant leap in introducing digitization in its functioning, the Minister said the government is mulling to introduce smart cards for the distribution of ration among the consumers which will go down in history as the revolutionary step in making the system transparent and accountable.
Meanwhile, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga said the government has left no stone unturned in realizing PM Narendra Modi’s dream of making, ‘Digital India’. The installation of POS machines will definitely keep a check on the black marketing and the customers will get their due right, he added.
He further said that the hike in commission of ration dealers has reduced pilferage of ration and this step has also given better livelihood to the dealers.
Later, the Minister visited under-construction building of Gujjar-Bhakerwal Boys hostel in Samba being constructed by Tribal Affairs Department at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.25 crore.
The Minister was informed that Rs. 2 crore have been released for construction of the hostel which would house 100 Gujjar-Bhakerwal students hailing from different parts of Samba.
The Minister directed for completion of the project within the fixed timeline and asked for fortnightly progress report of the project. He stressed on introducing biometric system of taking attendance of the students after the hostel starts functioning.

Rafi, Secretary, Gujjar-Bhakerwal Advisory Board Mukhtar Ahmed, ADC Samba Tilak Raj Shastri, Joint Director, FCS&CA Mansoor Aslam, Joint Controller, Legal Metrology V.S Sambyal and other officers of the department were present on the occasion.
