| Director education held a review meeting regarding disability issues | | Meeting was organized by Humanity welfare organization | 
Srinagar,November 13, (Scoop News)- A high level meeting was organized regarding the issues faced by the employees with disabilities in the meeting hall of directorate of education under the chair of Dr Ghulam Nabi Yatoo,Director School education Kashmir and facilitated by Dr Zahoor Ahmad P.O to the Director School education Kashmir .
The meeting was coordinated by chairman Humanity welfare organization HELPLINE NGO. Around 80 employees mostly teachers and masters with different types of disabilities attended the meeting and described their issues. The main issues included Provision of conveyance allowance at drawing disbursing officers DDO level.Posting of disable employees at native place through proper circular.Provision of accessibility in schools including accessible washroom for female teachers with disabilities.Capacity building of teachers with disabilities especially computer training to all employees with visual disabilities. Choice of teachers with disabilities whether they want to render extra duties like Mid day meal, examination duty, surveys etc that need physical excursion and long travels.Implementation of supreme court orders regarding quota in promotions for employees with disabilities. Provision of standard aids and appliances for teachers with disabilities who need cosmetic hands, legs , wheelchairs and hearing aids etc.
Provision of reservation in joining courses like PG and research and reservation in promoting as lecturer in case of teachers with disabilities holding research degrees.
The personal officer to the director of education heard the all issues inducing scores of personal issues of teachers with disabilities and later on Dr. Zahoor Ahmad described all the maters before director school education. Director school education Kashmir assured of notifying circulars in order to address the issues of employees with disabilities at zonal level. In addition Dr Itoo promised to take important issues of disable employees at policy level in administrative department so that cabinet gives nod to implement these important decisions.
In an another session the problems faced by children with different disabilities were discussed. These include provision of accessible books for the children with blindness and deafness.Provision of special educators at cluster level.Activate the already created resource rooms at district level.
Formulate circular for providing the scribe /writer facilities for blind and severe upper limb disable children.
Scholarships for the children with disabilities including escort and travel allowance.
Identifying and equipping a high school at every district headquarters to start inclusive education.
Director school education Dr Ghulam Nabi itoo ptomised to start process for the implementation of all such demands within short period of time.
Earlier Javed Ahmad Tak a severe disable person had approached the Director school education kashmir for redressal of important issues of persons with disabilities. Director school Education agreed to listen to the disable employees and children with disabilities greviances for the redressal and early intervention. Dr Reyaz Ahmad Ganie and Aijaz Ahmad Aijaz collectively presented vote of thanks.
