MHRD’s Digital Initiative 17-by- 17 Action Plan organized by College Development Council of JU



Jammu, November 13, (Scoop News)- Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu at the behest of Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, today organized Principals Meet on Awareness on Digital Initiative 17-by- 17, an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. As per this initiative, a 17-point action plan has been adopted by the MHRD.


In order to improve the educational standards in the fast changing technology, educational institutions across the world are using the latest technology to better their functioning and the academic standards. Keeping all this in view and through a survey of All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), MHRD has also come up with the latest developments to keep up with the latest global trends without any loss of time and for this MHRD has requested all the Universities to implement the 17-point digital plan in their campuses and affiliated colleges. For this purpose, AISHE(All India Survey for Higher Education) has designed a simple Monitoring Portal for the Digital Action Plan and the same has been made operational by MHRD and being assessed by the University of Jammu.


The awareness meeting to discuss these entire 17-points digital plan with all the principals of the affiliated colleges of the University of Jammu was organized to brief them about all the details and requirements associated so that the action plan is timely implemented in all the colleges.



Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rajni Kant, Director, College Development Council, University of Jammu, welcomed all the participants and through his detailed presentation made an elaborate overview of all the 17 points to be covered under the action plan and how they can be implemented by the Colleges and the requirements for implementing all these. Prof. M.K.Dhar made a comprehensive and detailed presentation about the same, elaborating more on the platforms which are being provided by institutes like ISRO, IIT Kharagpur, IISc Bangalore, etc. He threw light on the mandatory requirements for digitalization and discussed about the National Mission on Education thorough ICT (NMEICT) and also dwelt on the need of Digitalization. Prof. Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, apprised the participants about the importance and necessity of having this initiative operational in the affiliated colleges. He advised the gathering that since the exercise being of paramount importance, therefore the same needs to be implemented in a stipulated time in order to make the mission of MHRD a success.


Later Prof. Rajni Kant also provided the gist of the information required by the colleges that they have to submit to the University by November 30, 2017. He emphasized that the institutes need to strengthen IT enabled services in terms of better connectivity etc, ensure 24x7 electric supply, modifications in statutes for adopting the new methods/ technologies and preparation of action plan. He also introduced all the resource persons nominated by the University for all the 17 points under this action plan of MHRD. The resource persons identified by the Core Committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, JU, for the smooth implementation of Digital Initiative include Prof. Kulwant Singh, Sh. Sanjeev Mahajan, Prof. Manoj Dhar, Prof. Naresh Padha, Prof. Vibhakar Mansotra, Prof. Rahul Gupta, Prof. Vivek Gupta, Prof. Lalit Sen, Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Prof. Prof. Neeru Sharma, Prof. J. P. Singh Joorel, Anil K. Raina, Prof. Jasbir Singh, Prof. Jigar Mohd, Prof. D. Sen Gupta. More than one hundred principals/their representatives participated in the workshop.Later, Dr. Renu Bhai, Assistant Registrar, College Development Council presented a formal vote of thanks.
