IETE Jammu centre celebrates its 64th foundation day


Jammu, November 14, (Scoop News)-Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu centre today celebrated its 64th foundation day in a simple but impressive function organised in collaboration with Department of Electronics, University of Jammu in which Dr. Baij Nath Kaushik, Head School of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVDU, Katra was the chief guest. Dr. Rakesh Vaid, Chairman, IETE Jammu centre and Head Department of Electronics presided over the function whereas Maj. Gen (Retd.) S K Sharma, Director Academics, MIET and Mr. Joy Ganjoo, immediate past chairman IETE Jammu centre were the special guests of honour. While welcoming the gathering, Dr. Rakesh Vaid in his inaugural address introduced IETE to the audience and stressed the need to enhance the membership of IETE. Dr. Baij Nath Kaushik, Head School of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVDU, Katra delivered a very illuminating lecture on the topic" Machine learning and its applications and answered the queries raised by the students. Maj. Gen (Retd.) S K Sharma while speaking on the occasion discussed about IETE and its activities. He also threw light on tremendous progress made in this field of Electronics over the last seven decades and discussed its linkage with larger societal impact. Mr Joy Ganjoo summed up the talk delivered by Dr Baij Nath Kaushik and appreciated the efforts of the IETE Jammu centre in promoting such technical activities. Dr. Parveen Lehana, Hon. Secretary of the IETE Jammu centre read the message received from the President IETE, New Delhi on this years theme and also conducted the proceedings of the programme. Prominent among those present were Prof. Pawnesh Abrol, Dr. Susheel Sharma, Dr. Rockey Gupta, Er. Vijay Sharma, Mr. Deepak Anand, Mr Rakesh Kumar, Mr Jang Bhadur, members of IETE, besides students of the1st and 3rd semesters of M.Sc. Electronics, research scholars and M. Tech. students from the department of computer science and IT, JU, among others.
