Based on Intelligence inputs, authorities widen security blanket in and around KGBR Airport


Leh(Ladakh), November 21, (Scoop News)-Security in and around KG Bakula Rinpoche Airport at Leh has been upgraded by several notches following the intelligence inputs about the risk of retaliatory strike by a suicide squad of Lashkar e Tyyaiba (LeT) terrorist outfit, sources said.


In a bid to avenge the virtual wiping out of LeT outfit in roiled Kashmir in recent weeks, the authorities at Leh feared that its cadres may strike the airport.


They said the intelligence input based on intercepted message from across the border by the handlers of terror operatives instructing their cadres to strike the target at Leh. The security blanket has been spread in and around to thwart any attempt by the terrorist to strike the air base.


The sources said these inputs suggested that a meeting was held in Kashmir a few days ago where a plan was prepared to strike the strategic air base at Leh which is being used by both civilian and military for their operations.


Ladakh, barring two or three militancy related incidents in Kargil district during nearly past three decades, has remained least affected by terrorism.


The sources further said that three LeT terrorists were gunned down early this (Tuesday) morning following a firefight between the security forces and militants in Kupwara district ...
