NC pays rich tribute to Sher-e-Kashmir on 112th birth anniversary

Jammu, December 05, (Scoop News)- National Conference leaders on Tuesday paid glorious tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah on his 112th birth anniversary and took pledge to stand guard against communal polarization and the alarming growth of hate politics.

“Isolating communal forces and strengthening the bonds of amity and brotherhood will be biggest tribute to Baba-e-Quom, who strived all his life for harmony among different segments of society and unity between the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir”, Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana said while leading the party cadre and leadership in paying homage to Sheikih Sahib at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning.

Mr Rana exuded confidence that the National Conference cadre will stand tall in the prevailing vicious atmosphere of hate and mistrust and lead the society towards peace, harmony and tranquility in true spirit of secular ethos bequeathed by Sheikh Sahib.

Describing Sher-e-Kashmir as one of tallest leaders of the era of Mahatma Gandhi and Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, the Provincial President said his secular and progressive outlook will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister and senior leader Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra recalled the contribution of Sheikh Sahib in ensuring equal opportunities of progress and development to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, saying he was a strong proponent of regional autonomy to satiate the peculiar aspirations of the people.

Mr Sadhotra cautioned against the challenge of divisive politics and exhorted people to stand unitedly and fight the forces, hell bent upon trifurcation of the State.

Sr State Vice President and former minister Mr Surjeet Singh Slathia said that Sheikh Sahib struggled all his life for strengthening communal bonds between various sections of the society.

Mr Slathia recalled the contribution of Sher-e-Kashmir in leading the people of the State towards the goal of political emancipation and socio-economic development braving numerous challenges.

State Vice President Th Kashmira Singh described Sheikh Sahib a visionary, who worked towards the political empowerment of people and laid sound foundations for the state to progress and develop.

Mr Rattan Lal Gupta, State Vice President recalled the landmark and pioneering Land Reforms Act introduced by Sher-e-Kashmir and said this had empowered the farmers by making them masters of their own destiny

Former minister and State Vice President Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari lauded the crucial role of Sheikh Sahib in strengthening the bonds of amity, brotherhood and tranquility in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions. He said his vision and far sight helped the state to grow as a vibrant entity.

Recalling the contribution of Sheikh Sahib in ameliorating the lot of weaker sections of society, former minister and Chairman SC OBC Cell Babu Rampal said that said that the role of the late leader in strengthening bonds of amity and brotherhood will inspire generations to work for a society based on equality and social-justice.

Former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman described Sheikh Sahib as a leader of global stature who believed in a just society where people belonging to all the religions enjoy equal opportunities of progress. He said Sheikh Sahib always respected opposition as an important pillar of democracy.

MLA Mr Javed Rana, while paying tribute to Sher-e-Kashmir, referred to the atmosphere of mistrust and intolerance generated by divisive forces and expressed concern over the situation having taken such a turn in which the people were being singled out on the basis of their religious identities.

Dr Kamal Arora, MLA said that Sheikh Sahib's contribution to the governance of the State will always be an inspiration to again put Jammu and Kashmir on the path of peace, progress and prosperity

Former MLC Mr Brij Mohan Sharma hailed Sheikh Sahib’s role in cementing the bonds of brotherhood during most testing times.

The day started with Quran Khwani at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan that had been organized by Mr G H Malik, which was followed by a visit to Vridh Ashram at Amphalla by senior leaders who distributed fruit among the inmates
