| 10-days Special Ice Hockey Coaching Camp for differently abled children of Leh district begins | | 
Leh, January 10, (Scoop News) - A 10-days Special Ice Hockey Coaching Camp for the differently abled children of Leh district begins today at New Police Complex Agling Leh. Organized for the first time in Leh by district police Leh in collaboration with Health Department and Health Inc, the winter camp is being participated by large number of special children including students of PAGIR and children coming from far-off villages like Hanu, Skurbuchan and Domkhar.
Interacting with media persons, Additional Superintendent of Police, Leh Stanzin Losal said that besides giving coaching in ice hockey and ice skating skills, the main motive of this winter camp for the differently abled children is to involve such children in the mainstream. The 10-days camp will be held under the supervision of coachers from Canada, USA and local coaches of District Police Leh and beside that day learning classes on drawing, painting and morel education will also be part of the camp. Expressing great happiness for organizing such camp for the special children, President PAGIR Mohd Iqbal thanked organizers for involving differently abled children in the mainstream and termed participating children very lucky saying that such efforts will bring positive change in society towards disabled persons and hoped that such camp will continue in future also.
Cynthia Hont, a Canadian woman working with Health Inc in Leh since decade said that such kind of camp for differently abled children was also organized in Domkhar in 2008. She said that a team from the High Commission of Canada, New Delhi will visit Leh next week and they will talk directly with SSP Leh to make such camp an annual programme.
DSP (DAR) Leh Sonam Dorjey talking about the 10-days camp said that the main purpose for organising this camp is to create a favourable environment for special children in enjoying ice skating and to inculcate sportsmen spirit among them. To facilitate special children, suitable ramp have been developed at the Ice hockey rink. Added DSP Sonam.
