JKPCC Chief asks cadres of Youth Congress to get ready for Panchayat elections

Jammu, January 11, (Scoop News)- JKPCC Chief Shri G.A. Mir has asked the cadres of Pradesh Youth Congress to get ready for the electoral battles specially Panchayat elections, although the PDP-BJP government has weekend the Panchayat Raj System.

Addressing a gathering of leaders and workers of Pradesh Youth at PCC HQ here today organized by PYC President Pranav Shagotra, PCC Chief asked the Youth Congress cadres in the state to get ready for exposing the failures and misdeeds of the present coalition amongst the masses in order to educate them about their falsehood and double standards.

He said that series of Programmes and conventions would be organised in the days to come in all parts of the state to reach out to the party cadres and people to expose the opportunist alliance which is total failure on all fronts and has brought large scale hardships to the people. He said that the party leaders and workers should leave no stone unturned to highlight the plight and problems of people of different sections and expose the government and make it accountable both inside and outside the assembly.

Mr. Mir said that weakening of Panchayati Raj System has taken away the basic right of the people in democracy and people would be exhorted to teach the two coalition partners a lesson for their failures, betrayals and falsehood.

Shri Sham Lal Sharma, Senior Vice President PCC in his address said present PDP-BJP coalition has weakened the Panchayati Raj System in the state by imposing indirect elections of the Sarpanchs. He said the Youth Congress is the backbone of the party and asked its leaders and workers to extend their support to honest and dedicated youths who can serve better to the people through this basic institution of democracy.

He said that PDP and BJP who are ideologically and politically opposed to each other in all their fundamental issues and approach displayed the sheer lust for power to join hands leaving aside all their important commitments to their respective electorates. Their inherent contradictions and approach to various issues and aspects of the problems and aspirations of the people of different regions haunts the present coalition in their working. This has led to an atmosphere of uncertainty and mistrust and has widened the gap between the regions instead of bridging the same.

Mr. Sharma further said that state Govt. has failed to concentrate on the issues of governance and development and the people of different regions continue to suffer because of the coming to halt the developmental activities in all parts of the state.


President of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC), Pranav Shagotra today said that the Panchayats elections would be held on non political basis, the youths of the State have big role to play in these election. He assured the party leadership in the state that Pradesh Youth Congress will leave no stone unturned to expose the failures of present coalition in the state.

He further said that legalizing corruption and nepotism is only shining achievement of this regime. He said that except patronizing transfer industry BJP ministers in the coalition have done nothing for the people. He also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation on the border and Line of Control with Pakistan as the unabated incidents of ceasefire violations have surpassed all past records. The increasing incidents of violence and cross border infiltrations of militants and their activities have vitiated the atmosphere of peace in the state.


Speaking on the occasion, Uma Shankar Panday, Sheesh Pal Keharwala, Abid Kashmiri - Secretaries IYC regretted that people of J&K are confronting to get basic amenities but those at the helm of the affairs have failed to solve day today problems of the masses. They said that during visit to different areas of the State it was come to their notice that there was complete breakdown of system and common masses are bearing maximum brunt of anti-people policies of this regime. They asked the cadres of PYC to work hard to strengthen the party at the grass root level and field competent personnel in the ensuing Panchayat elections.

Senior PCC leaders Taj Mohi-ud-din, Raman Bhalla, Vikram Malhotra, S. Surinder Singh Channi and Shahnawaz Choudhary also spoke on the occasion.
