Two civilians & BSF jawan killed,fourteen others injured in Pakistan firing

Jammu, January 19, (Scoop News)- Two civilians and a BSF jawan were killed while fourteen others including two BSF personnel were injured in the shelling today.

Reports said that Pakistan Rangers resorted to heavy firing and shelling along the IB in several areas in R S Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh sectors today.


Pakistan Rangers targeted around 40 Border Out Posts (BoPs) in three sectors using 82 mm and 52 mortar bombs, automatic and small weapons, reports said.

Pakistani troops have targeted over 40 civilian villages in Arnia, R S Pura and Ramgarh sectors along the IB till now.


According to reports two civilians, including a woman, and a BSF Jawan were killed while 14 others, including two BSF personnel were injured in the shelling.


According to reports one BSF jawan deployed at Chelariayn post in Ramgarh — Head Constable Jagvir Singh, who was injured and rushed to the district hospital, have succumbed. Two more BSF personnel were injured at Mallu Chak and Nanga Post in Ramgarh.
Reports said that the deceased civilians were identified as Bachno Devi,50, wife of Jeet Raj, resident of Saikhurd, Arnia and Sahil, 25, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Kortana RS Pura. Some of the injured were identified as Jeet Raj, 55, his son Ravi Kumar and Krsihan Lal, 50 from R S Pura are hospitalised, Nanak Raj, 52, resident of Mahah Shah, Ranjeet Singh,35, resident of Khokharey Chak, Ramgarh, Samba.
The schools have been shut in the bordering districts till further orders while Government buildings have been identified as shelters to accommodate people shifting from their native places, reports said.

It may be mentioned that a BSF jawan and a 17-years old girl were killed and six persons injured when Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire and heavily shelled BoPs and villages along IB in three sectors of Jammu and Samba districts.
