Two civilians killed,Solider martyred in Pakistan firing | Dy CM pays homage to martyred solider |
Jammu, January 20, (Scoop News)-Two civilians were killed and a solider attained martyrdom in Pakistan shelling on Saturday.
Reports said Pakistan troops shelled forward border outposts and targeted civilian areas along International Border and the Line of Control across Jammu region today. In the exchange of fire, Sepoy Mandeep Singh was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries. Mandeep Singh, 23, belonged to village Alampur, District Sangroor, Punjab and is survived by his father Gurnaam Singh.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Rangers also targeted civilian areas in R S Pura, Arnia and Kanhachak sector along international border in Jammu. Two persons identified as Gharu Ram,15, and an elderly man have died in the cross-border firing. Some of the injured were identified as Sheetla Devi, Sonia Devi, Billu Gujjar, BSF SI Jarnal Singh and they have been hospitalised at Government Medical College and Hospital.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh paid homage to the Head Constable, Jagpal Singh of 173 Battalion BSF who attained martyrdom in cross border firing. Speaking during wreath laying ceremony, Dr Singh said that the sacrifices rendered by valiant our soldiers would be remembered for ever inspiring the young generation to serve the cause of nation. IG BSF Ram Awtar, IGP Jammu, S.D Singh, other senior officers of BSF and police also paid homage to the martyred soldiers.
