Toll rises in Sunjawan Army Station attack, 5 soldiers and a civilian among 10 killed
all terrorists neutralized

Jammu, February 11, (Scoop News)-In a pre dawn terrorist strike on a military station near Sunjwan in Jammu on Saturday, at least 10 persons including five soldiers, one civilian were killed and 11 others sustained bullet wounds, three of the critically, well informed sources said on Sunday.
Sunjwan is 7 km south of Jammu, the winter capital of restive Jammu and Kashmir.
In the wee hours of Saturday, after a brief exchange of fire with Sentry on the periphery, a small group of terrorists, managed to sneak into family quarters of in the station at around 4.55 am. The Quick Reaction Team (QRT) immediately cordoned off the complex and isolated the terrorists who were holed up in few family quarters. Due to presence of women and children, the operations had to be carried out cautiously to avoid any collateral damage. The military station is spread over a vast area and is surrounded by civilian residential colonies on three sides and on west side its main gate of the camp is faced with National High 1A.
In 2003, an attack was carried out by the terrorists on the same army station in which 11 soldiers were martyred and 17 others injured.
Incidentally, the intelligence input had warned of an attack on an army installation or security establishment by Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) in view of the death anniversary of Afzal Guru who was sentenced by country’s Apex Court in the Parliament attack case and hanged at Tihar Jail in New Delhi on February 9, 2013.
Those martyred had been identified as Subedar Madan Lal Choudhary 1st Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI), Subedar Mohammed Ashraf Mir (JKLI), Havaldar Habib Ullah Qureshi (JKLI)-succumbed to his injuries at Military Hospital- Satwatri, Naik Manzoor Ahmed (JKLI), Lance Naik Mohammed iqbal, and father of Lance Naik Mohammed Iqbal, a civilian.
The injured were immediately rushed to Military Hospital-Satwari for treatment and they included Lieutenant Colonel Rohit Solanki of 6th Mahar (minor injury), Major Avjit Singh of 6th Mahar (Head injury), Lance Naik Bahadur Singh (JKLI), Subedar Rajinder Singh of 6th Mahar (Minor injuries), Havaldar Abdul Hamid Rashid (JKLI- Head injury), Paramjeet Kour (40), relative of Subedar Madan Lal Choudhary, Neha (20) daughter of Subedar Madan Lal Choudhary, Somati Jena son of Havaldar BeHaripoda Jena, Private Assistant to Brigade Commander (Head injuries), Wife of Havaldar Satyandra, 36 Brigade Camp (Minor injuries), Daughter of Havaldar Satyendra, 36 Brigade Camp (Minor injuries) and wife of Rifleman Nazir Ahmed (injured) she was pregnant and delivered a child at hospital.
