4G brings communication revolution in region, people celebrating digital Ladakh and digital India mission
video conferencing and web seminars, a rage

Leh(Ladakh), March 11, (Scoop News)-Forgotten are the days when it would take days together to materialize an ordinary telephonic call from here to Kargil, Srinagar and beyond. But the communication sector in the region has revolutionized over the years.

Sonam Wangchuk of ‘artificial glacier’ fame addressed live over 250 Ladakhi students through video conferencing who were sitting in an auditorium in Chandigarh followed by holding of a Web Seminar on Friday with few hundred students in VNIT Engineering College Nagpur.

The success story behind this communication revolution is digital Ladakh and digital India mission launched last year.

Lauding the role of Airtel 4G, Wangchuk expressed gratitude to telecom service provider for making this (video conferencing) a reality in Ladakh, since he has been using every forum to advocate the cause of Ladakh’s connectivity.

Wangchuk invited local people to join him in live Web Seminar in Bodhi in an attempt to create awareness on judicious usage of internet. He wants to caution his friends about possible problems that Ladakhi society might face, especially the youth, ‘if it (internet) is not handled properly.’

Airtel became the first telecom service provider to deliver 4G in the region in December last year and the people have been celebrating this digital revolution since then.
