| PoK DPs Candidates will be fielded in 2019 LS polls: Chuni | |
Jammu,March 18,(Scoop News)-SOS International–An organization for PoK Displaced Persons today organized a mammoth rally at Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu. Thousands of PoK DPs participated in the rally to extend their full support to S. O. S. International and its leadership for its continuous dedication, sincerity of raising voice for the well being of PoK DPs. PoK DPs who were present in the rally were filled with both - excitement and anguish. They were excited as S. O. S. International strength is growing more with active involvement of PoK DPs and they were angry as Government is not listening to their demands.
While speaking in the rally, Chairman S. O. S. International Rajiv Chuni said that the motive behind organizing this rally was to seek valuable support of passing resolution to field candidates from PoK DPs community in 2019 general elections so that PoK DPs voice can be raised in various forums. “The candidates will contest in polls from both Lok Sabha constituencies of Jammu Province i.e. Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda-Kathua constituencies. Thousands of people during meetings and rallies have advised me to launch our own candidates as various successive Governments have failed to redress our issues till today. “To put stop over brutalities on world’s most destitute community, launching our own candidates is the need of hour and it is high time because PoK DPs have been ditched at every sphere of their lives. One Government announced something but other Government sabotaged the same, one party said something but other party sabotaged that, the process of taking PoK DPs for granted has not stopped till now”, he added. He added that to put a full stop over these practices, PoK DPs will have to shun looking at these hostile parties; PoK DPs must have their own candidates. Chuni stated that working committee of S. O. S. International will discuss over it and the decision will be taken shortly. All the PoK DPs in the rally unanimously accepted and vowed their whole heartedly support to the resolution.
Speaking further, S. O. S. International chairman said that time has come for PoK DPs to get united and consolidate their own vote bank for their betterment and to teach severe lesson to hostile parties. He further said that various political parties are in pursuit of playing foul games to gain political mileage over the interest of PoK DPs. “There is a race going on among political parties to grind their axes and enhance their vote banks by citing the issues of PoK DPs in domain. None of these political parties are losing anything, they just trying their best and choosing every action so that PoK DPs can be deprived out of their rights. Some parties are in the view of no rehabilitation of PoK DPs and some are trying their best to exploit us by all means as it seems their ultimate goal is to keep us in ultimate state of trauma”, Mr. Chuni alleged. “It seems that Government is providing this tiny relief amount in some constraint and this attitude of Government is hurting us a lot. It is not only the fault of Government but our people are also involved in it as PoK DPs are ignorant about importance of their precious vote and they let hostile political parties to exploit them with the passage of time but when they will realize the power of their vote then intimidating parties will learn the lesson”, he added.
He further stated that Kashmiri Pandits who are very hardly any in numbers are fetching every possible benefit from Government but on the other hand, PoK DPs who are more than 1 million in numbers have been struggling for justice for the last 7 decades. S. O. S. International Chairman added PoK refugees have been spending their lives in such inhuman conditions where they are deprived from basic amenities such as food, shelter, education, medical care and many more. “PoK DPs are not getting education as their whole time is consumed in doing labour work to earn bread and butter. The future of 3 generations has been put in uncertainty by various successive Governments and now the S. O. S. International will not allow it to happen anymore as PoK refugees have already faced too much cruelty and apathy since their exodus from their ancestral places.”, he added.
He further said that BJP under well knitted strategy is dealing with PoK DPs as this party has never worked to provide much needed succor to us. BJP leaders have been making fake promises to PoK DPs since they have come to power. “There has been no such BJP leader who left no stone unturned to make us fool for their petty vote bank politics without caring of traumatic state under which they have been going through since 1947. They said it is just the first installment of the relief package and PoK DPs will get the entire amount passed by State Cabinet and recommended by Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) but it has been more than 2 years since just tiny amount of relief package, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving in snail’s pace. Approximately, 16, 000 cases have been approved but only 6000 out of them have got relief amount in their accounts by Direct Bank Transfer (DBT). The intention behind taking such a long time to disburse first installment among beneficiaries is undoubtedly clear that BJP is not at all interested in providing us justice. PoK DPs are running pillar to post to get their file approved as they are being harassed by authority chosen for disbursing amount by citing unnecessary objections over the files. The saffron party has crossed all limitations of discrimination as it has diverse agenda for two communities living in the same state. Every little deed of this party and its leaders are being watched carefully and BJP will have to give account of these”, Chuni stated.
