| VC SKUAST-K chairs extension council meet | | Srinagar, April 16, (Scoop News)-Vice-Chancellor Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Kashmir, Prof. Nazeer Ahmed today chaired 29th extension council meeting of the varsity.
Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu Dr. D.B.Singh, Director CITH Dr. K.S Risam, Director Extension (Member Secretary Extension Council SKUAST-K), Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, Heads of Agriculture Divisions, Programme Coordinators of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, SKUAST-K scientists, Subject Matter Specialists, and nominated progressive farmers of Kashmir Division attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the VC stressed on the reduction of production cost by judicious use of agriculture inputs, multiplication of hybrid seeds and backyard poultry birds, value addition and market intervention for agriculture produce.
The meeting also reviewed the extension activities of the Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K. Emphasis was laid on the impact of new crop varieties released and their production and protection technologies to be adopted, collaborative programmes in agriculture entrepreneurship development, mechanism for strengthening public-private partnership and strong collaboration of all the allied departments for the development of the rural community.
Frequent interaction with farmer groups through KVKs was impressed by the VC during the meeting. Later, seven agriculture publications were released by the VC for the awareness and benefit of farmers.
