JU organizs one day National seminar on“Changing Scenario of Urdu Literature”





Jammu, April 16, (Scoop News)- The department of Urdu, University of Jammu today organized one day National seminar in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the department of Urdu, University of Jammu. The topic of the seminar was “Changing Scenario of Urdu Literature”. Prof. Anis Ashfaq , Former HOD Urdu, Lucknow University was the keynote speaker while Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Dr. Chaman Lal ad Dr. Farhat Shamim also presented detail paper on the subject. The seminar was presided over by noted broadcaster and chairperson women commission Government of Jammu and Kashmir Naheema Ahmed Majoor.
In his thought provoking keynote address Prof. Anis Ashfaq threw light on the Changing scenario of Urdu literature from progressive movements to till date. He informed that progressive writers movements projected the realities of life. The writer too projected the problems of downtrodden member of the society. It produced poets like Sahir Ludhanvi, Faiz Ahmed Faiz and many others. In Short Story writing the contribution of Mantoo, Bedi, Ismat and Krishan Chander could not be ignored . After partition a new trends can be seen in the urdu literature. Now the writers wrote on the issues pertaining to partition. In 70’s a new trend which emerges in the urdu literature is called Modernism, under this trends emphasis was given on indirect expression to direct expression of literature. The most prominent poetic of Modernism Prof. Shamsul Rehman Farooqi highlighted the significant features of modernism. In which a numbers writings came out with this feature. After Modernism we entered into era of Post-Modernism which emerge as a new literary trend, projecting the impose features of Modernism. The post-Modernism parallel trend emerge i.e. Feminism, which deals with supremacy of patriarchal society. In this number of women writers come out writing with the specific problems of women.
In her presidential address Naheema Ahmed Mazoor congratulated the department of urdu, University of Jammu for organizing one day National seminar on a vital subject. She particularly spoke on the literature written in Kashmir by the Urdu writers. She complaint that no writer has projected the real situation of Kashmir during the last thirty years and stressed the poets and writers to write about the burning issue of Kashmir.
Earlier in his welcome address Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, HOD Urdu , University of Jammu introduces the resource person to the audience describing Prof. Anis Ashfaq the main speaker of today’s function ,a towering urdu critic as well as fiction writer. Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik informed that he has written dozens of books on the critics. He has also published two novels and is a good reputed poets of Lucknow. Speaking on the topic Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik informed that women writers of the present era has produced good literature on various issues. He in this connection quoted names of Tarrnum Reyaz,Isma Nahid, Sunita Raina, Tehmina , Shahnaz Nabi who are making their good efforts for producing a good literature in urdu.
The proceeding of the program was conducted by Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed , Associate Professor of the department of Urdu, University of Jammu while vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Farhat Shamim, Assistant Professor of the department of Urdu. Besides students ,scholars , the seminar was also attended by members of the civil society.
