feel saddened

Jammu, May 14, (Scoop News)-The virulent language used in tweets by a US based multinational company, Development Dimensions Investment (DDI) employee, Ashish Koul, has been widely denounced particularly by his own community members.

The tweets had evoked angry reactions from social media followers with many of them tagging his employers while others tacked police station in Gurugram against his remarks.

“Our community doesn’t approve of the language he (Ashish) has used on social media networking site. Our community is known for its decency, sobriety and refinement particularly to womenfolk irrespective of their Creed, caste and colour. We accord highest respect to all” said Mohan Lal Bhat, a retired government employee.

The employee was asked to tender his resignation by his employers for his reported abusive tweets about Kashmiri women folk had left many of his community members saddened and perplexed.

“A wise man always weighs his words before he speaks. Ashish was an educated person, working as a consultant with a multinational company and ought to have observed self restraint in his tweets despite provocations, if any,” said Autar Krishan Mattoo, a retired teacher. “Obviously, his anger and conduct has landed him in a mess and also cost him his job,” he added.

Expecting a modicum of sophistication from a person holding an executive post in a multinational company, PL Koul, a business consultant, said “the language used by him is unwarranted and uncalled for. Apparently, he could have used better language. Our traditions and culture teach us to observe restraint despite provocations. Our community is known for its soft behavior, elegance and speaking in a dignified manner, even against our arch enemy.”

On May 11, DDI released a statement which said, “DDI was alerted to the fact that an employee who worked as a consultant in India had made statements on social media that condemned violence against members of the community in the Kashmir region. We were shocked and saddened by the nature of these posts, which are in direct violation of our mission and values. As soon as we learned about the social media posts, we immediately suspended the employee and launched an investigation to determine the full scope of the issue.”

“As of May 12, we have accepted the individual’s resignation,” the statement said, adding “the individual’s opinions were his alone and did not reflect the values of DDI.”

“At DDI, we are strong advocates for equality and diversity………………. As part of our mission to create better leaders around the world, we also believe we have a responsibility to serve…………….. ,” the statement said.

It further said that it had ‘immediately launched a full investigation upon discovering this issue.

Surprisingly, the company’s statement hasn’t identified or named the employee in its elaborate statement.

Reports suggest, a number of Twitter users had tagged Police station at Gurugram to seek their attention against his remarks.

Incidentally, taking cognizance of the matter, Jammu and Kashmir police has reportedly lodged an FIR in police station at Kothi Bagh, under section 505 (1)C RPC , 66 IT Act. ...
