Hurriyat Leadership duty bound to understand dialogue only way resolve Kashmir issue: Vakil

Srinagar, May 16, (Scoop News)-President of Jammu and Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and Former Minister Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil today in a General Council Meeting of Party office bearers and Active Members in Srinagar today said that it is the need of hour that Civil Society and intellectuals must play their role in bringing out Kashmir Valley from the vicious cycle of death and destruction as the spurt in innocent killings has crossed all the limits. He said that Hurriyat leadership is also duty bound to endorse the fact that dialogue is the only way forward to find a solution to the vexed Kashmir issue and put this narrative and perspective openly and unambiguously in the public domain otherwise it will a big sin attributed to them for not speaking and revealing the truth to people of J&K at this crucial juncture.

He reiterated that dialogue will ultimately lead us somewhere towards positivity and solution of Kashmir issue can be evolved through a sustained dialogue, Vakil said that during the last 27 years we lost so many precious lives and observed huge destruction but still we are not in a position to gift peace to common people of Kashmir and now again highly educated youth ranging from unemployed to employed including the highly educated scholars picking up the gun and adopting the path of violence despite knowing its fate should be a matter of concern for everyone particularly the leadership of Kashmir independent of their party affiliations including Hurriyat.

Mr. Vakil also said that PDP-BJP alliance really proved North Pole and South Pole has came together and compressed common people to death and destruction. He said that from the day one of the unnatural alliance people of J&K State started to suffer on all fronts and sense of insecurity prevailed upon all and balloons of hollow slogans started deflating. He expressed concern over the fact that BJP led Central Government never accepted and agreed upon the proposals of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and humiliated her on numerous occasion as her suggestions regarding holding of dialogue with Pakistan or ceasefire during coming month of Ramadhan were treated by Modi Government as obnoxious or unwanted and turned down like unholy words. Mr. Vakil also said that PDP has to answer these questions as to why the central funding, development and dialogue suffered setback despite BJP being a coalition partner in J&K. He attributed lust of power as the sole reason that for PDP to uphold the unnatural alliance with BJP and due to same Ms. Mehbooba Mufti forgot and relegated the moral grounds on which she pulled down the Gh. Nabi Azad’s Government in 2008. He appealed all other mainstream parties to sideline the unnatural alliance of PDP and BJP and take a lead and get united at this crucial phase and acquaint the Govt. of India that looking and evaluating the Kashmir issue through the prism of egoism is a reason for present mess and time has come to shun the indifferent attitude towards people of Kashmir as violence and use of brute force is never going to win the hearts and minds of people here.
