| Ladies of Leh gets their own bus service | |
Leh, June 11, (Scoop News)-For the first time in Leh district, the district administration Leh has kicked off special bus services for ladies on Leh-Choglamsar and Leh-Skalzangling road. The Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa has flagged off the first service with full of lady passengers towards Choglamsar at Leh Gate this evening. DC herself travelled in the bus alongwith Councilor Rinchen Dolma, lady HoDs of Leh and representatives from various women welfare groups.
Considering the pressing demand from the women groups for starting special bus services for the ladies particularly during the business season when they work up to late evening in Leh town, Lavasa told to the media persons that this initiative of administration is a token of goodwill gesture towards our women folk. Replying to the questions, she further said that 45 new buses would be added on the roads of Leh that would tremendously streamline the public transport system soon.
Many of the lady passengers who were travelling through the first bus service lauded the initiative of DC Leh, saying that it has brought a great relief and a sense of secuty and hustle free travelling in day to day life.
