US envoy visits MIMC, Hemis and Rancho School, terms his trip to Leh as revealing and educative
ITBP conducts 20 students from Chushul area on 10 day Bharat Darshan.



Leh(Ladakh), July 11, (Scoop News)-Terming his visit to Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) as enlightening and informative, US Ambassador to India, Kenneth Juster, said he was impressed with the humanitarian work being carried out at the Centre.

He said the Centre has been developed to provide humanitarian services to the old aged, homeless, poor and differently abled people. The diplomat also visited newly established Mahabodhi Mahakaruna Hospice at the Mahabodhi Old Age Home.

At MIMC, the top US envoy was received by Bhikkhu Sangsena with traditional scarf.

Earlier, the US diplomat visited Druk Padma Karpo School near Shey where the principal and students accorded a rousing reception to him with Dram Nyam instruments, a traditional light music. The principal, Stanzin Kunzang, conducted the ambassador to entire complex and briefed him about the activities being carried out at the institute.

He also met and interacted with a group of students from USA who are on an exchange programme and hoped that MIMC will send a group of students from the region to study in the US

He also visited Hemis Monastery where he was accorded a warm welcome by the head lama, Thuksey Rimpoche, Young Drukpa Association (YDA) president, Rinchen Wacher and Chakzot (manager of Hemis Gonpa) Nawang Otsal.

Meanwhile, a group of 22 students along with two teachers from Indo-China border areas of Chushul area were flagged off on a 10 day trip of Bharat Darshan. The trip will help these students to personality development of participating children who would mix up with other people of India with entirely different background.

The tour is an initiative and of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to provide social security and welfare for border area citizens under Civic Action Progamme- Civil Society and Welfare.

The students will also get a chance to interact with dignitaries and other senior officials. The trip will help them (students) to enhance their knowledge about the rich cultural heritage of the country, different customs and languages besides developmental works launched by the Government of India.

The objective of the tour is to strengthen of feeling of oneness and linking of cultures and people with distance background. ...
