| Wangyal inaugurates Ladakh Rescue Centre oxygen café cum medical centre at Khardong-la top | | 
Leh, August 09 (Scoop News)-EC Health Gyal P. Wangyal inaugurated Ladakh Rescue Centre oxygen café cum medical centre at Khardong-la top today. He was accompanied by Nominated Councilor Mohd Nasir and CMO Leh Motup Dorjey. The Rescue Centre is equipped with emergency air and van ambulance and medical services like oxygen café, checking of oxygen level, blood pressure and pulse rate, treating mountain sickness, basic medicine, and doctor on call etc are available on nominal fee for tourists and free medical facilities for locals traveling across Khardong la.
Speaking on the occasion EC Wangyal said that the centre is first of its kind at world highest motorable road at the height of 18330 ft. He expressed great hope that the centre will be of immense help to tourists as well as local in times of emergency. He urged the local agent, Ladakh Rescue Centre to whom the centre has been outsourced by Administration to ensure its sustainability with continuous services in future. He asked the agent to appoint few male staff to run the centre even at night hours.
Wangyal expressed gratitude to CEC, LAHDC Leh, EC Tourism and DC, Leh for their initiative and effort in making the centre operational with better and committed services.
CMO, Leh Dr. Motup Dorjey appraised that the overall supervision of the centre is under Health Department and doctors’ en-route to Nubra has been instructed to monitor the services at the centre and also to provide some guidance to the staff. He added that it has been 18 days that the centre is made functional and there has been positive response from tourist about its benefits.
