JKPCC observe the Quit India Day


Jammu, August 09 (Scoop News)- In connection with the Quit India Day anniversary today an impressive function was held here today at PCC HQ Shahid Chowk Jammu in which senior leaders of PCC, DCC and frontal organizations besides a large number of prominent workers participated and remembered sacrifices and contributions of late leaders led by Mahatma Gandhi.

The function was presided over by former Minister and Vice President PCC Shri Raman Bhalla. While Former Minister and Vice-president Shri Mula Ram, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Kanta Bhan, Th. Balwan Singh, Th. Manmohan Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Indu Pawar, Hari Sing Chib, Pranav Shagotra, B.S. Sambyal, krishan Lal Gupta and others addressed the gathering. The functionaries and leaders of District Congress committee, Block Congress Committee, Seva Dal Congress, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress also attended in Large numbers.

Shri Raman Bhalla in his addressing paid rich tributes to great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Subash Chander Bose, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other top leaders who made numerous contributions and sacrifices to achieve freedom. He said that BJP stand exposed being power hungry who had compromised and surrendered the interest of Jammu region and there was total discrimination during their regime. It cannot befool the people of Jammu region by giving emotional slogans and now BJP and its leaders can face the people of Jammu when elections are near.

He questioned BJP for its opportunist alliance and sharing of power with PDP to whom BJP leaders opposed with tooth and nail for its policies encouraging the separatists. He asked the congress workers to work hard to ensure come back of congress party in order to maintain religious harmony and social fabric of this country.

Addressing a gathering Shri Mula Ram recalled the great contributions of National Leaders of congress Party who suffered a lot and went to jails for achieving the freedom. He said that the present government is trying to distort the history to malign the role of Congress leaders. He regretted that BJP-RSS are trying to mislead the future generations and belittle the Congress leaders by changing names of historical places and events took place in the past. The time has come to wake up and fight battle against the divisive politics of BJP, he added.

Speaking on this occasion Shri Ravinder Sharma said that the freedom struggle of the country launched by Congress Party (INC) led by father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, served a final ultimatum to the Britishers to quit India on 9th August 1942, which finally forced the Britishers, through non-violent and peaceful means to leave this country and finally country attained freedom in 1947. He said that the Quit India Movement has great importance in the history of freedom struggle of our country.


Shri Jugal Sharma, Th. Balwan Singh, Kanta Bhan, Vikram Mlahotra and Manmohan Singh also recalled the freedom struggle and the role of Quit India Movement of 1942 launched by Mahatma Gandhi in achieving the goal of freedom. The AICC session at Bombay on 08th August, 1942 decided to launch the Quit India Movement. The entire national leadership of Congress including Mahatma Gandhi were taken into custody during the night. The next day Smt. Aruna Asif Ali a young leader hoisted the flag and movement was launched through the length and breadth of the contrary. During the this period, when Mahatma Gandhi Ji was in jail, his wife Smt. Kasturba Gandhi also expired. The Congress leaders took the pledge to follow firmly path of secularism and defeat the forces who were trying to weaken the nation and the state.

They asked the people to work unitedly for Hindu-Muslim-Sikh unity and for the unity and integrity of the State. They cautioned the people especially the youth about the designs of anti national and communal forces and asked them to defeat these forces.

Prominent others who attended the function included B.B. Gupta, Madan Lal Malagar, Suresh Bargotra, Sanjeev Sharma, Thomas Khoker, Ch. Sukhdev Singh, Dr. R.K. Khajuria, Rajinder Singh pinky, Chetan Wanchoo, Ricky Dalotra, Hoshiyar singh Chib, Mohan Choudhary, B.S. Mastana, Chanchal Popli, Jyoti Vaid, Kirti Gupta, Naresh Maini, Gourav Chopra, Sandeep Dogra, Gourav Kapoor, Th. Rachpal Singh, Amrit Bali, Vijay Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Manmohan Sharma, J.L. Koul, S. Surinder Dutt, Pawan Bhagat, Som Dutt Sharma, Prabha Slathia, Bimla Salthia, Yash Sangral, Diwan Chand, Ganesh Dass and others.

Earlier Former Minister Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma flagged of Rally of Congress Seva Dal led by it newly appointed chief Shri Rajesh Sadotra from Gandhi Bhawan Shalamar road which reached Congress HQ Shaheedi Chowk and took part in the Quit India Day function.
