| Vajpayee the only PM, who was equally popular in all three regions of J&K:Gupta | |
Jammu, August 18 (Scoop News)-Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the only Prime Minister, who was equally popular in all three regions of J&K which differ on many issues.
This was stated by Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, who held various positions both in the party as also in the Union Ministry under the stewardship of Shri Vajpayee.
He said Shri Vajpayee was so great statesman that in 1999 he won the Kargil War by demonstrating great courage but for peace latter on he engaged the villain General Musharraf in a dialogue and brought him to a position that he publically announced in 2003, that no soil under control of Pakistan would be allowed for any cross border violence.
Prof. Gupta who was a Minister of State for Defence in Vajpayee Government, called that when parleys on Kashmir with Pakistan ruler were going on, he (Prof. Gupta) talked to Shri Vajpayee that the interests of Jammu should be kept in view.
Shri Vajpayee’s answer was that he fully know that Jammu had been a basic Karam Bhoomi i.e the centre of activities of a movement but at present attempts are being made to bring Kashmir out of long muddle. So, his narration was that friends could be changed but not the neighbors, who are in any situation important.
Prof. Gupta regretted the uncalled observations of Congress leader, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz at this sad juncture and said that this indicates the quality of the person who even at this occasion had tried to defend himself for voting against Vajpayee dispensation in April 1999, by changing the N.C mandate and got positions in Congress Party.
