Use of clean fuel will transform women's lives: Priya Sethi

Jammu, September 12 (Scoop News)-The importance of switching over to cooking gas from other means of fuel can be very well understood by none other than those women who had been using coal, wood or kerosene to cook food for their families in worst conditions. Now when under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana these women have been given cooking gas cylinders their lives have completely been transformed. These families are now leading a clean and healthy life".

This was stated by Former Minister, MLA and BJP Spokesperson Priya Sethi after distributing free cooking gas connections to eligible women beneficiaries hailing from BPL and SC/ST families under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana at Jammu East today.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya sethi said that no previous government ever cared for this section of the society who were cooking under worst circumstances. The way earlier governments were issuing gas connections, these women would have never had an opportunity to use clean cooking fuel and lead a healthy life. It's PM Ujjwala Yojana launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that such facilities have started percolating down to the grass root level.
"Earlier, women folk were overlooked but now there is growing emphasis on incorporating women's concerns, their voices were being heard and they are recognized as nation builders and flag bearers of nation's development," the BJP MLA affirmed.

Priya Sethi urged those present on the occasion to take benefits of government schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Ladli Beti and Swachh Vidyalaya Programme and empower women who virtually are nation builders. She hoped that lives of women who untill now were using firewood, coal, dung - cakes, kerosene or other fuel for cooking and were exposed to hazardous smoke will now lead a healthy life after using cooking gas.
How important it was to save women and children from getting exposed to hazardous gases, safeguard their health and stopping them from wandering in unsafe areas in search of firewood Priya Sethi said adding that no-one ever cared to even look at such issues. Prime Minister's vision enabled rich to forego subsidy on gas and issue gas connections to deserving ones. This is a great idea that is going to make our fellow women folk and children live honourably.
Priya Sethi asked the women who have experienced the benefits of cooking with LPG to boost the confidence of other women about adopting this clean, green cooking fuel safely and without any reservations or misconceptions as sharing of experiences by actual users and learning through peer group interaction is the main aim of LPG Panchayats.
