Ladakh to get 3 permanent members and a post of Joint Secretary in J&K Cricket Association
Leh(Ladakh), October 14 (Scoop News)-Aimed at producing best cricketers at National and International level, the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) has been organizing talent hunt cricket tournaments in every districts of the State. As a part of this initiative, JKCA has also organized a cricket tournament in Leh with 9 teams and its final match was played today at NDS Cricket Ground between Tip Top club and JKP team and the former won the match by 6 wickets.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) J&K Cricket Association, Sayeed Ashiq Hussain Bhukhari was the chief guest on the occasion while Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa and International Cricketer Parveez Rasool were the guests of honour. The CEC, LAHDC, Leh Dorjey Motup and the Executive Councilor for Youth Services and Sports, Gyal P Wangyal who is also the Vice Chairman, District Sports Council, Leh were also present on the occasion.
Addressing on the occasion, Sayeed Bhukhari said that the JKCA for the first time initiated a talent hunt tournament in every nook and corner of the State with sole purpose to give uniformity opportunity for every young players of the State. As a result, over 50,000 young cricketers from all over the state have exhibited their talent, the CEO said and adding that holding of such tournament in Ladakh which would be an annual feature is also intended to give equal opportunity to the Ladakhi cricketers at National and International cricket.
Pointing towards a better future for cricket in Ladakh, Mr. Bhukhari said that with the amendment in rules and constitution, Ladakh will get 3 permanent members in J&K Cricket Association beside a permanent post of Joint Secretary that would ensure a strong representation from this region in every decision making process concerning cricket. Responding to the demand for development of a cricket ground in Leh, he said that JKCA is fully intend to develop a standard ground in Leh with specific needs of cricket game, but the ground should be exclusively for cricket only for which he sought land from the LAHDC, Leh. Bhukhari further assured for providing cricket equipments and holding of coaching camps in Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Perveez Rasool said that under the dynamic leadership of Sayeed Bhukhari as CEO, JKCA , the State would witness a revolutionary change in cricket soon and Ladakhi players would also get opportunities to demonstrate their talent at National and International level.
Earlier welcoming the guests and players, the Vice Chairman District Sports Council Leh Gyal P Wangyal lauded the initiatives of JKCA under the head of Mr. Bhukhari that has given a new hope for promotion of cricket in Ladakh as well as opportunities for local youths. He extended gratitude to JKCA for organizing talent hunt cricket tournament in Leh and also for selecting five local cricketers in different age group for State level coaching camps. Gyal further urged upon the JKCA to give berth for Ladakhi cricketers in State team so that they could also display their ability at National level and other high level tournaments like Ranji trophy. Seeking support from JKCA in developing a play-ground in Leh, he said that young players of this region have tremendous potential in every field of sports but lack of infrastructure always becomes hurdle in their way, Gyal added.
Later, the guests gave away trophies to the winner and runner teams and also awarded individual players for excel in different categories. It is to mention that Tip Top won the final match by six wickets. Batting first, JKP team manage to set a small target of 128 runs.
