Khan proposes to reopen pilgrimage sites for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists in PoK
authorities to renovate and restore over 600 pilgrim sites


Muzaffarabad, December 16, (Scoop News)-During a reception function at Mirpur on Saturday, the Prime Minister of Pakistan occupied Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, indicated that he has sent a proposal to the Government of Pakistan (GoP) for reopening the pilgrimages sites of Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists in PoK on the prototype of Kartarpur corridor in Punjab.
He said there were over 600 pilgrim sites of Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists like Sharda, Ali Baig and other places in PoK and his government was planning to renovate and restore these sites to facilitate pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir.
Khan said the move will give a major boost to pilgrim tourism in the region and reinforce the confidence between the people and governments of two neighbouring countries. “This will also help in resolving the conflicts peacefully between the two countries,” he said.
Khan said he has urged the GoP to open the long established routes between the two parts of the erstwhile state for pilgrims like Kartarpur corridor between India and Pakistan for Sikh pilgrims.
