LAHDC-Leh to disband Executive Council, new names also to be declared in next few days : Sources | | Leh(Ladakh), January 8, (Scoop News)_After resolving the crisis in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)- Leh, by adjusting Changthang region in the executive council, the district unit of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is now seriously mulling over to replace the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Tsering Jamyang Namgyal, with a new face. Incidentally, the BJP led LAHDC- Leh was reduced to minority when five of its coucillors, three of them from Changthang and two Sham area tendered their resignation in support of their demand for representation in the executive council of LAHDC- Leh. According to informed sources, in view of the growing discontent and the dejection expressed by some senior leaders with the style of CEC’s working, the local unit of BJP has decided to replace the incumbent CEC with a senior and experienced hand. In a recent meeting convened by the senior party leader and former state minister, Chering Dorjey, it was decided to sort out all differences within the Council in a cordial atmosphere. “The issue of CEC also came up for exchange of views between the councilors,” the sources said adding that “the move is necessitated to reclaim the party’s prospects ahead of parliamentary and assembly elections.” The sources said a decision to disband the executive council and to declare new names would also come in next few days. With the acceptance of their demand, the BJP councilors and two mandal presidents of Durbuk and Nyoma have withdrawn their resignation from the party membership, said a party press statement. ... |
