DEO- Leh expresses satisfaction over Army’s response | preliminary inquiry establishes no violation in alleged electronic postal ballot system |
Leh(Ladakh), May 12, (Scoop News)-The District Election Officer (DEO)- Leh, Avny Lavasa, has expressed satisfaction over the Army’s reply over alleged malpractices in the electronic postal ballot system during Lok Sabha elections on May 6.
“The receipt of your letter no 5009/ Misc/ GS (IW) dated 11 May, 2019 is acknowledged herewith where in you have stated that a preliminary inquiry was conducted and ‘no violation has been reported.’ The contents of the letter are found to be satisfactory. Any further requirement will be communicated, if required,” the letter vide No Elec- I(Lok Sabha) /2019 (703) dated May 11, 2019 and addressed to Colonel US Mankotia, Colonel General Staff for General Officer Commanding HQ, 14 Corps, read.
Earlier, DEO- Leh had written a letter to army authorities on Friday following the complaints filed by the contesting candidates belonging to Congress and Independents. They alleged electoral malpractices in the electronic postal ballot system at various levels particularly at the unit level.
The army, however, refuted the charges and termed the complaints as unfounded and baseless. After holding of an in-depth investigation to ascertain the details in most impartial manner, it was found there is no substance in these allegations leveled by political candidates and appeared to have been made to besmirch the image of the forces.
Army remains apolitical and it holds the core value in letter and spirit, stated a defence official. ... |
