Exemplary Capital punishment should be given to the culprits involved in Sumbal Rape case
Society will develop only when women feel protected: Priya Sethi


Jammu/Solan,May -15 (Scoop News)-Former Minister and BJP Spokesperson Priya Sethi while campaigning in Himachal Pardesh for the last phase of Lok Sabha elections has strongly condemned the rape of 3 yrs old girl in Kashmir Valley of Jammu and Kashmir which has shamed the whole of humanity & human values.

BJP former Minister and state spokesperson Priya Sethi has strongly appealed Governor of the J&K State Satya Paul Malik that this particular case to be tried in a fast track court & exemplary Capital punishment should be given to the culprits Who are actually the criminals of Humanity

While expressing shock on this case she wrote on twitter that she has sympathies with the family of the victim and has said that all are with the family for the speedy justice of the girl ”

Priya added that the growing incidents of rapes in Jammu and Kashmir have perturbed the entire state and we as a society need to fight it collectively and added that Society will develop only when women feel protected.

She added that there is much to be done to change our laws on rape. While Sections 375 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code are the major laws dealing with rape, they have failed to match the international standards of addressing the crime but Making tougher laws will only be as effective as its implementation.

Priya said that PM Modi during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort has said that “The rule of law is supreme for us and there can be no compromise with this.

Even Modi government amended the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, to grant maximum punishment to those convicted of raping children below 12 years. But before this, in 2017, several states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana had amended the Indian Penal Code to award capital punishment for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12.

Former Minister said that The heaven of earth Kashmir has already been in news for militancy activities but this rape culture has slowly infested Kashmir valley which needs to be stopped as early as possible.

Last week, incident happened in Sumbal area of Bandipora has Shocked the one and all where a three-year-old was raped and we should not turn a blind eye to such heinous crimes

Priya said that It seems that the Kashmir valley which has earned its name for being considered as the safest place for women on earth is turning into a hub of such heinous crimes and such crimes should be given exemplary punishment so that this crimes will not happen again in future anywhere.

She added that very strange to understand is that why stones are being pelted on security people and establishments as to stop these crimes we as a society have to take the responsibility collectively.

Priya has strongly appealed administration for the exemplary punishment for the culprits as the crime against women is increasing in Valley and we need to give such a punishment to the culprits so that in future this heinous crime will not happen again.
