Attempts being made to revive militancy in erstwhile Doda: BJP

Jammu, May -22 (Scoop News)- The elimination of Parihar Brothers and Chanderkant Sharma in Kishtwar and the recent killing in Kaach village of Nalthi area of Bhaderwah indicate that a conspiracy is being hatched to terrorize the Hindu minority in the erstwhile Doda district by reviving militancy in the area.

This was alleged by BJP senior leader & Rajya Sabha MP Shamsher Singh Manhas, while briefing the media about on the spot assessment of the situation arising out of killing in village of Bhaderwah, which houses the maximum population of BPL families. He said that a fact finding team of BJP led by him and comprising of State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh, former Minister & State General Secretary Sunil Sharma, former Minister Shakti Parihar and former MLA Dalip Parihar, during its visit to Bhaderwah found that the killing resulted due to rivalry of drug peddlers and bovine smugglers and is being intentionally and mischievously communalized by anti-National elements. The Hindus were targeted and their properties in Seri Bazar damaged, which has sent a wave of terror and insecurity among the minority community.

The local people were of the view that the killing could have been averted, had the local administration acted in time, stated Manhas and added that there have also been the apprehensions, that these incidents have their roots connected to terrorist groups based in Kashmir.

MP alleged that the whole unfortunate incident seems to be the handiwork of anti-Nationals and anti-Social elements having done complete homework in a sustained and organized manner. This is apparent from the so much widespread violence targeting minority, which erupted immediately along with the incident.

MP also alleged that the local administration has somehow failed to handle the situation effectively, thus completely falling short on the expectations of locals especially the members of minority community.

MP also attacked the leaders of NC and PDP, who immediately issued very inflammatory and instigatory statements unmindful of requirement of restraint in the given situation.

The MP said that the BJP team during its visit to Kishtwar, was shocked to learn that there is feeling of total insecurity among the minorities and that the people crave the requirement of decisive and immediate action on the part of police and civil administration to strengthen VDCs, revive SOG and STF so that the anti-national forces do not succeed in their nefarious game plan of reviving the militancy in this hilly district. He said that the people also demanded around the clock patrolling by the police and security forces so that the people feel secure and live in peace.

MP Shamsher Singh Manhas, said that the administration needs to adopt seriousness towards the apprehensions of the minority community for the making up of congenial atmosphere in the region. Certain measures have to be taken on the top priority basis to restore confidence among the minority community members like building up of bunkers and more liberal engagement of locals in the security agencies who are well aware of the difficult topography of the region. This is an utmost necessary requirement to prevent the revival of militancy and terrorism in the region, he stressed.

Manhas concluded his statement by asserting that all the stake holders in the state must come together to frustrate and defeat the designs of the anti-National and fundamentalist elements and ensure that the Hindu minority feels safe in their homes and do not migrate to safer areas.

BJP State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh, former Minister Shakti Parihar and State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan were also present in the press conference.
