Advisors Sharma, Kumar travel by road to take stock of Sgr-Jmu National Highway
Srinagar,June 11 (Scoop News)- In order to get the first hand information regarding the condition of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, especially in view of frequent disruption in traffic mobility due to widening and upgradation of the National Highway, the Advisor to the Governor K K Sharma, accompanied by Advisor K Vijay Kumar today travelled by road from Udhampur to Kashmir.

During their travel, the Advisors met several officers and conducted inspections en route and directed the concerned to work in a coordinated manner so that the construction work on Udhampur Chenani section, Nashri to Ramban section and Ramban to Banihal section gets completed within the stipulated time so that the commuters commuting on this prestigious and important roadway do not face any kind of inconvenience.

The Advisor also called for undertaking immediate measures for restorations of the slopes along with the way which would ensure that the debris coming on the road would also be checked. He added that it is the major cause of frequent road-blockades and if managed professionally it would lessen the frequency of the blocks.

The Advisor Sharma directed the officers for exploring the options to find the permanent solutions to the road blockade problem by looking into the possibilities of constructing tunnels and bi-ducts by realigning the proposed alignment at the vulnerable points, so that the risk factor could be minimised.

He said that for the purpose of the construction agency can seek professional help from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and actively involve various stakeholders as well.

The Advisor Sharma directed for strict implementation of improvement of the riding surface so that wear and tear of the vehicle plying on these is reduced to a great extent, besides, it will also ensure their better stability which would result in less fuel consumption and would greatly nullify the occurrence of accidents on the Highway.

The Advisors en route were accompanied by DC Udhampur, DC Ramban, SSP Udhampur, SSP Ramban, Project Director National Highway Authority of India, Superintending Engineer NHAI and other senior officers.

DC Kargil for fostering parent-teacher coordination, interaction

KARGIL, JUNE 11:- Srinagar,June 11 (Scoop News)-Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary highlighted the role of education in creating a progressive and harmonious society and exhorted upon teachers and parents to have continued coordination and interactions for bright future of the students.

The DC stated this while addressing parents, teachers and students during a one-day teacher-parent conference at Higher Secondary School Barsoo here on Monday.

Superintendent of Police Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Councillor Barsoo Sheikh Muhammad Ansari, Councillor Thasgam Abdul Rahim, SDM Sankoo Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, Project Director Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) Kacho Ahmed Khan, Chief Education Officer Nazir Ahmed Wani, Principal DIET Muhammad Ali Bhuttoo, Executive Engineer Suru Valley Division Sankoo Sajjad Hussain Wazir besides other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The DC stressed upon the teachers to strive hard to keep themselves abreast with the latest trends in the teaching-learning process. He urged them to impart quality education to the students with focus on inculcating moral education which is the need of the hour.

The DC enjoined upon students to take keen interest in both curricular and co-curricular activities to face future challenges with ease.

The DC hailed the teachers and school management for better management of the day-long programme.

A brainstorming session was held on the occasion wherein the teachers, parents, Education Committee members, as well as the Councillors and Officers, put forth their suggestions on how to bring necessary improvements in the teaching-learning the process at the grassroots.

Earlier, Principal Ali Haider presented the annual report of the school highlighting the achievements of the students in curricular and co-curricular activities.

A memorandum with regard to the problems and issues of the institution was also presented before the DC which mainly included the deployment of teachers for Zoology and Physical Education subjects, construction of hostel for students of far off areas like Itchoo, Pangbar and Bartoo, provision of solar power plant or generator set for power supply, books and laboratory equipments for school library and laboratory, provision of WIFI or VSAT facilities and other related demands.

The DC after giving a patient hearing to all issues and demands assured the school authorities that all genuine concerns would be addressed in a phased manner.

Later the DC also visited the 1.5 MW Khandi Mini Hydel Project and took stock of the pace of progress on the construction of the project which is being completed at a cost of Rs 15.49 crores.

The DC was informed that almost 80% work on the project has been completed and the power plant is expected to be commissioned this year.

The DC while appreciating the team of Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) for working in such inhospitable weather conditions urged upon them to work with continued dedication and commitment so that the project is completed within the stipulated timeline.

He also fixed ending September as the deadline for commissioning of the project so that people of Barsoo and adjoining areas are provided with satisfactory power supply.

The DC also visited 1 MW Chillung Small Hydel Project and took stock of its functioning. The DC was informed that the project has been successfully in operation since November last year and is presently providing power supply to the entire Tai Suru block.
