| DC Kargil convenes Sarpanch conference to discuss Jal Shakti Abhiyan | | Kargil, July 10 (Scoop News)- Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today convened a Sarpanch Conference to discuss Jal Shakti Abhiyan at Drass, Kargil.
SDM Drass Pawan Kotwal, District Panchayat Officer Kargil Shabir Hussain, Executive Engineer I&FC, Executive Engineer PHE, Block Development Officers, Sarpanchs and Panchs of various Sarpanch Halqas, engineers of various divisions of the PWD and Rural Development (RD) besides field functionaries attended the conference.
Threadbare discussion was held on the five critical areas of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan which include water conservation and rain water harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse, bore well recharge structures, watershed development and intensive afforestation.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the BDOs, engineers of PHE and I&FC, VLWs, Gram Rozgar Sewaks, Technical Assistants and other concerned field functionaries to conduct visits of different Gram Panchayats in order to formulate a plan of Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the district.
The DC also directed the District Panchayat Officer (DPO) to conduct Gram Sabhas in Drass Sub Division for plan formulation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan. He also urged the Sarpanchs and Panchs of various Sarpanch Halqas to ensure their participation in these Gram Sabhas in a more focused way so as to achieve the objective of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
Meanwhile, the DC informed that service camps under the Public Service Guarantee Act will be held in all villages of Drass Sub Division starting from July 12, 2019.
