MEA downgrades Al Qaeda threat, Zawahiri terms Pakistan sponsored Jihad in Kashmir as opportunistic and a secular rivalry over borders
strategic analysts caution not to underrate any threat

Jammu, July 12, (Scoop News)-Downplaying the Jihad call given to various terror groups operating in Kashmir to wreak ‘unrelenting blows’ on Indian Army and bleed economy and make country suffer by Al Qaeda chief Ayman al Zawahiri, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that they don’t want to dignify what the outfit had said.

The global terror outfit had been issuing such threats time and again and the security forces in India are competent to deal with such threats, maintained the MEA statement.

However, the strategic analysts observed that no threat should be underrated and said Al Qaeda has been trying to make inroads into India and specifically into Kashmir since 1996 but admitted that the terrorism in the Valley has succeeded only where it has been sponsored and backed by the Pakistan state.

Al Qaeda has substantially been condoned due to its operational failures after 2001, by the consistent loss of cadres, leadership and general ineptness. The outfit is on a course of global decline.

Zawahiri in his 14.32 minute long video which was posted by the Al Qaeda’s media wing Al Sahab, surprisingly dismissed the Pakistani sponsored Jihad in Kashmir as opportunistic, a secular rivalry over borders.

He condemned Pakistan as a puppet of United States and warns fighters in Kashmir that the Pakistan army and government are only interested in exploiting the fighters for specific political objectives, only to dump or persecute them later.

Al Qaeda chief urges Kashmiri to inflict unrelenting blows on the India army and the government to bleed economy and make the country suffer.

As per transcript, Zawahiri is reported to have said the ‘fighters’ must liberate the Kashmiri Jihad from the clutches of Pakistan state so that the Jihad was for the sake of Allah.
