| Army helps avert major tragedy in a fire incident at village Murthal | |
Srinagar, July 12 (Scoop News)- At around 2220h on 10 Jul 2019, sentries at Green Ridge, Rustam Helipad and a nearby Post noticed smoke emanating from a house in the area of Upper Murthal village. The Military Garrison was immediately informed and teams were promptly despatched to the village from Green Ridge, Sarabjeet and Rustam Army Camps. Adequate firefighting equipment was sent out and medical teams along with Medical Officer were also sent out to cater for any injured or burn casualties. Another team from Bandi Army Camp also arrived at incident site for any assistance and evacuation.
By 2300h, the raging fire was brought under control and all residents & cattle were evacuated safely. The alertness of the sentries & timely actions of Rustam Military Garrison at a critical juncture helped save many lives and avert a major tragedy. The village elders and family members thanked the troops on ground for the timely response and efforts to bring the fire under control.
