Three JeM militants killed in Baramulla, Shopian
BAT attack foiled,5 Pak soldiers killed at LoC in Keran sector



Srinagar,August 03 (Scoop News)-Three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were on Saturday killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Baramulla and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Police said that on a credible input, a cordon & search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces in Malamapanpora Warpora area of District Sopore.

During the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In the ensuing encounter, 02 terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.

Incriminating material including arms & ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter.

Police further informed that one of the killed terrorists has been identified as Umar Shahbaz Wani of Bandipora while as from the incriminating materials recovered from the site of encounter the second killed terrorist has been identified as a foreigner from Pakistan codenamed Khalid.

Both the killed terrorists as per police records were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit JeM and were wanted by law for their complicity in terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities.

According to police records, Khalid was part of groups involved in planning & executing series of terror attacks in the area and many other civilian atrocities. Several terror crime cases were registered against him.

Similarly Umar Shahbaz was also involved in terror crimes.

Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.

People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any.


Meanwhile Five Pakistan soldiers and militants were killed as alert troops foiled a major Border Action Team (BAT) attempt to strike forward Indian post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector in north Kashmir district of Kupwara, reports said.

According to reports that in the last 36 hours, the Indian Army foiled an attempt by a Pakistani BAT squad to attack forward posts in Keran sector. “During the action by our troops, five to seven Pakistani Army regulars and militants were killed,” he said
