| Indian Institute of Management Jammu Celebrates 73rd Independence Day | |
Jammu, August 17 (Scoop News)- Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu celebrated the 73rd Indian Independence Day on 15th August 2019 at 9:00 AM with great zeal and fervor. The entire IIM Jammu community including students, faculty and staff with their family members attended the celebration. The celebrations began with the unfurling of national flag by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu. Thereafter, Prof. Sahay delivered his Independence Day address.
In his address, Prof. Sahay invoked the idea of “One Nation, One Constitution”. Speaking on the landmark decision by the Government of India on empowerment of Jammu and Kashmir, he emphasized on the pivotal role that IIM Jammu will play in the social and economic development of the state. He shared his vision for the incubation center that will soon be functional at the off-campus of IIM Jammu in Srinagar. He further stated that this centre will work for the growth and empowerment of the youth of Kashmir by facilitating the rapid socio-economic progress of the state along with reviving the past glory of Kashmir. Prof. Sahay concluded his speech by calling upon the students to save water and energy for a better future. He also asked the students to take pride in the rich culture and identity of the state.
The address was followed by prize distribution for various intra-institute academic and sports competitions which saw an avid participation from students who proved their mettle in different events like debate competition, quiz competition, volleyball tournament and cricket tournament. Prof. B. S. Sahay felicitated all the award winners. The programme was marked by the patriotic poetry recitation and drama performance by the students with a message of achieving the true essence of Independence which was envisioned during the freedom struggle. The celebration concluded with an enrapturing session of music and poetry in which the Director, faculty, staff and all the students of IIM Jammu took part with great enthusiasm. The day saw IIM Jammu exuding the spirit of unity in diversity as students from different cultural backgrounds came together to celebrate the day and commemorated the sacrifices that gave this nation her freedom.... |
