Department of Ecology Environment and Remote Sensing organizes environmental awareness programme


Jammu, February 10 (Scoop News)-The Department of Ecology Environment and Remote Sensing organized an Environmental awareness programme at Government Middle School Pull Tawi Jammu.

The main objective of the function was to generate environmental awareness among students regarding causes of Climate Change.

Environment Soil Conservationist from DEERS Saleem ul Haq was the chief guest whereas and Geeta Kumari, Head of School was the guest of honour on the occasion.

The ESC said that there are many causes of climate change including anthropogenic natural causes, forest fire, ocean currents, sunspot and solar cycle, volcano eruptions, meteorites, methane emissions etc.

He also highlighted some serious hazards effecting the nature like extinction of species, acidification of ocean, oxygen depletion, water resources and natural disaster etc.

Giving emphasis on solution, he said that more invest in Green technology, renewable energy, maximum use of public transport, saving electricity are some method by which one can give his contribution in saving environment.

The students participated in several activities including drawing, essay writing competition, skits etc on environmental theme.

The prizes along with appreciation certificates were distributed to the meritorious students. The eco friendly material like jute bags were also distributed among to the dignitaries.
