UT administration of Ladakh urges airlines to allow local
security force personnel and civil officials only to board Leh bound flights


Leh(Ladakh), March 21, (Scoop News)_With two more patients testing positive to Covid- 19 in UT of Ladakh, the total number active cases of the virus has risen to 10, informed sources said.

They said that two more cases have tested positive for coronavirus infection. The reports suggest that these two persons were in contact with the affected persons and both have no recent travel history.

According to sources, both the new patients belonged to Chushot Gangma village of Leh district which already is notified as containment area by the district administration.

Soon after the reports about two patients came positive, they were immediately shifted to an isolation hospital by medical staff, they said.

The sources said the samples of 55 more suspected patients including 10 taken on Friday were sent for testing to Pune.

Meanwhile, in view of rapidly spreading deadly virus, Ladakh Union Territory administration has urged airlines officials not to carry any passengers except locals, civilian officials, army and paramilitary personnel to Leh.

The administration issued an advisory for the airlines urging them to allow only locals, security force personnel and civil officials to board the Leh bound flight.

In a statement, the chairman of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Gyal P Wangyal, called on the Lieutenant Governor- Ladakh, RK Mathur, and briefed him about the slew of measures taken by the divisional administration in s bid to contain the pandemic on war footing.

Wangyal also appealed the people to observe “Janta Curfew” between 7am and 9 pm on March 22, 2020 (Sunday) as exhorted by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in a broadcast to the nation on Thursday.

In a statement issued here, CEO- LAHDC stated that in view of the imposition of Section 144, all government offices including LAHDC have been ordered shut for general public.
