| PSA revoked, Omar a free man after spending 232 days under detention | | leaves political statement for next time, urges Centre to release all political detainees, restore 4G to fight virus |
Srinagar, March 24, (Scoop News)-Former chef minister and vice president of National Conference (NC) party, Omar Abdullah, Tuesday appealed people to observe strictly social distancing to avoid fast spreading corona virus disease.
“It pertains to life and death and we have to take all precautionary measures like social distancing, follow officially recommended guidelines and attending to our social responsibilities to contain it,” he added.
Omar also urged the Central government to release all political leaders and restore the 4G in the state for better and fast communication network. He said fast communication network would help in combating the virus.
Earlier, the officials in the Union Territory administration of Jammu and Kashmir indicated about his release by revoking his detention under Public Safety Act (PSA).
“Government issues orders revoking detention of Shri Omar Abdullah,” government spokesman, Rohit Kansal, tweeted on social media.
The order comes less than a week after when the Supreme Court of India (SCI) asked both the State and the Central Governments to inform it whether it was planning to release Omar from detention.
On February 10, Sara Abdullah Pilot, sister of Omar, moved the Apex Court challenging the detention of her brother under PSA.
Full text of Omar’s address to media outside detention centre:-
“For past 232 days I have been under detention, in these 232 days a lot has happened, a lot has changed for us individually and for us collectively. During the period of my detention, I had thought a lot about what I would say the moment I come out, what I would say about what happened on 5th of August, what would I say about the way J&K as a state was broken up and divided into two Union Territories, what I would say about the change in status of Jammu and Kashmir, about the hardships that people faced.”
“Kis tarah itne mahiney hamarey bache school na jaa sakey, kis tarah hamarey dukaandaar mahiney mahiney tak koi kamai na kar sakey, kis tarah itne mahiney hamarey hotel bandh rahey, hamarey taxiwale ka kamai nahi huei, hamarey houseboatwaley, shikarawaley kitni mushkil ke samna karna padha, Mein to ek jagah bandh thaa, lekin jo pareshaniyah yahan kay logon nay kis tarah unko apne garoon mein bandh rakha gaya.”
“Mein nay bahut kuch socha thaa ki mein iss kay barre boloun ga, lekin aaj mujhe iss baat ka ehsas hai ki hum ek bahut badi jang lad rahe hain, hum zindagi aur mout ki ladai lad rahe hain aur afsoos ki baat yeh hai ki hum log jo hain government kay direction kay khilaaf aaj iss tarah jamma huye hain. Hamay kaha gaya thaa aur hum yeh paigaam sab ko de rahe hain ki humain social distancing rakhni chahey, iss bemaari ko phaelne se rokney kay liye humain ehtiat karna chahy. Lakin hum kya sabak de logon ko jab hum khud iss sabak ko kaam karney kay liye tayar nahi.”
“Iss riyasat ki siyasat kay halaat, iss riyasat ko 5 August jo kiya gaya uss kay barre mein khul kay baat karon ga, lekin pehale do chezay, e kiss corona virus se najat, iss bemaari se najaat hasil Karen, apne aap ko bachaye, apne bachoon ko bachaye, apne maa- baap ko bachay, apne rishtadaroon ko bachaye, dostun ko bachaye, apne padosiyun ko bachaye aur uss kay saath saath humare saare log jo bandh hain chahe who riyasat kay ander bandh ho ya riyasat kay baher bandh ho, mein chahta hoon ki iss mushkil halaat mein markaz ki hukumat unn par raham Karen aur unn ko ghar wapas layen unn ko chod de.”
“Iss kay saath saath meri modhbana guzarish markaz se ki khuda rah hamare upper jo yeh pabandi lagai hui hai communication par, aaj hi khuda rah aur kuch bhj nahi, hamare 3G, 4G dubara kholey, hum se kaha jaata hai ki corona virus se ladne kay liye jo humain sabak seekhna chahey woh internet se hasil hona chahey, iss waqat khole jab kuch chalta nahi,”
“Iss liye aaj kay din app sabi se yahi guzarish hai ki government ka paigaam jo logon ko social distancing, ehtiyat bartain aur iss par hum amal Karen, aur markaz se guzarish hai ki jo log aaj bhi bandh hai chahey Mehbooba ji ho, chahey hamare national conference kay log ho ya PDP kay ho sab ko riha kiya jaye…….”
