| India committed to ensure territorial security and sovereignty along LoAC | | China cautions India to refrain from taking unilateral actions to complicate situation, US blames China for changing status quo |
Leh(Ladakh),May 22, (Scoop News)-Denouncing the Chinese allegations of border intrusion by Indian troops in eastern Ladakh, informed sources said that India remained committed to maintaining peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control (LoAC) with its neighbour, emphasising that such incidents could have been avoided.
Sources said it was Chinese side that recently undertook incursions and thwarted India’s normal patrol in the area. Indian troops are well acquainted with the topography and alignment of the LoAC in the Indo- Sino border area and India strictly adheres by it.
All activities entirely took place on the Indian side of the LoAC, the sources said adding that in fact it is the Chinese side that has recently undertaken activities that hampered India’s normal patrolling norms.
They said that India has always taken a responsible approach towards border management and at the same time we are deeply committed to ensuring India’s security and sovereignty.
“There is no common perception of the borderline in the area,” sources added.
Chinese authorities, however, had earlier accused India of attempting to change the status of un- delineated border in Ladakh.
China’s stand on Indo- Sino border issue is consistent with its stated position and its border troops firmly safeguard China’s territorial sovereignty and security and firmly deals with the Indian sides cross over and infringement activities, reports pouring in from the neighbouring country said.
The Chinese troops ensure peace and provide stability in the border region, the report added.
Chinese authorities urged India to work with them abide by their leadership, comply with the agreements signed, refrain from taking unilateral actions complicating the situation.
“We are optimistic that India will undertake solid measures for peace and tranquility in the border region,” the reports indicated.
Interestingly, a senior US official, Alice G Wells, observed that Beijing’s aggression is not always rhetorical and accused it of steady with its vexing and worrying actions to change the status quo.
He said there is a method here to Chinese operations and it is that perpetual aggression, the aim to alter the norms, to change what is status quo.
