Army looks out for land acquisition, approaches revenue department for purchase of leased land in its possesseion


Baramulla, May 31, (Scoop News)-The Commanding Officer of 19th Infantry Division has submitted an application for purchase of land to the district administration requesting him to inform about its decision.
129 kanals of the land are in possession of Army near Kreeri plateau on Tappar- Pattan road in Baramulla district where the Ordinance Unit is temporarily stationed since decades, sources said.
“The land has been allotted to them on lease and after its purchasing, the ownership rights will automatically change. After its sale deed, the land will be mutated on their name in the revenue records,” they added.
According to sources the Army has sought the permission from the district administration for purchase of the land and urged the authorities to inform them about their decision by May 31.
It is for the first time that army has directly applied to the state revenue department for purchase of the land since August 5 last year when Article 370 was abrogated.
Before the abrogation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the army has been paying crores of rupees to the state government and the civilians as rent for the land they were in possession of on lease.
