Gen Navarane visits forward posts in eastern Ladakh
interacts with troops, lauds their bravery, 40 companies of ITBP inducted to defend LoAC


Leh(Ladakh), June 24, (Scoop News)-A week after Galwan carnage, the army generals of two hostile neighbouring countries have agreed to disengage and de escalate standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LoAC) in Ladakh region.

The two sides will also work out modalities on the ground to disengage troops and withdraw their respective military equipment deployed near the LoAC prior to May 3, 2020 and maintain status quo ante. Earlier, June 6, the two top army leaders had reached similar agreement to de escalate the tension along 645 km long LoAC shared by two countries in the region.

Sources said the two corps commander level talks between India and China on Monday were held at Moldo opposite Chushul in eastern Ladakh region in a cordial, constructive and positive atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), General MM Naravane, who arrived in Leh on Tuesday, drove straight to Army Base Hospital- Leh to enquire about the welfare f injured soldiers of Galwan incident. He interacted with all the injured soldiers and lauded their exemplary bravery in pushing the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) of China from intruding into Indian side. Gen Naravane assured all help to them.

His two day visit is fundamentally fixed to determine the ground situation in the wake of the face off at Galwan Valley.

After visiting the hospital, he reviewed the overall security situation in the region with the ground commanders. The army chief also interacted with commanders including Corps Commander of the 14th Corps, Lieutenant General, Harinder Singh.

While sounding optimistic, Gen Navarane asked the troops to stay extra vigilant and alert until the situation eased on the ground. He directed them to keep a high level alertness to deal with any Chinese incursion.

CoAS visited forward areas of eastern Ladakh and reviewed operational situation where he interacted with the troops on the ground. He commended their high morale.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has deployed 40 companies of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) including a mechanized one along the LoA with China.

According to sources, China has amassed large number of troops, armored vehicles, tanks and other war equipment on its side. They have even built concrete pill boxes and strong bunkers on its side, they said.
