Official communiqué on storage of liquefied gasoline and arranging accommodation for central forces during Amarnath pilgrimage period creates panic in Valley



Srinagar, June 29, (Scoop News)-Consumer Affairs Department’s communiqué to Indian Oil Corporation Limited to ensure two months stock availability of LPG cylinders has created panic among the residents in the valley.

The instruction has led to multiple conjectures as orders of similar nature were circulated before the abrogation of Article 370 last year.

According to the June 27order issued by the director of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department in Kashmir, Farooq Khan, an advisor to Jammu and Kashmir has passed directions in a meeting held on June 23 to ensure sufficient quantity of liquefied gasoline in the valley as the supply of the same gets affected due to closure of national highway due to frequent landslides.

Terming the order as most urgent, the director asked the oil companies to make sufficient stocks of LPG at bottling plants and distribution depots which can last up to two months.

Interestingly, former chief minister, Omar Abdullah cited another communiqué by district police lines Ganderbal for making provisions for lodging central forces and said such orders create panic in Kashmir and sought an explanation from the government.

“Government orders are creating panic in Kashmir and after all lies last year even if govt explains, hardly any one of us will take the assurance at face value. Still need to explain these orders,” he tweeted while alluding to abrogation of Article 370.

The senior superintendent of police Ganderbal in his letter to district administration to make available 16 educational institutions in the district as these building were required for accommodating the central security forces.

The letter further said that in view of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2020 and due the dearth of accommodation facilities in the district for coming central forces, it is requested that these accommodation centres / educational institutions may kindly be made available for accommodation of central forces during the period of pilgrimage.

However, an official clarified that the LPG stocking was discussed in the context of monsoon which blocks the national highway due to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, political affairs committee of Panun Kashmir has said that any appeasement policy at this stage will dilute the war against terrorism and sponsors of terror besides demoralizing nationalist forces

In a statement issued here on Sunday, PK lauded the Union Home Ministry’s proposal to withhold sanction of to the scholarship scheme for orphans of terrorists. The policy is highly flawed and to enhance scholarship is disastrous move.

The statement said when the entire country is waging a relentless battle against terror and to enhance scholarship would tend to encourage ’merchandise of terrorism’. Experience suggests that terrorism can only be dealt with an iron hand and any kid glove policy always proves counterproductive in long run.

They deserved to be placed in rehabilitation centres so that they can shun the immoral path adopted by their parents. The scheme in itself should be annulled fully, the statement said.

It said our security forces have neutralized hundreds of terrorists in last few months giving a crushing blow to Pak sponsored terrorism. There is a need to completely cleanse the entire valley from the menace so that resettlement of displaced Kashmiri Pandits in their homeland can become a reality.

Meanwhile, displaced Kashmiri Pandits demanded rehabilitation and return to their homeland before domicile certificates are issued to others in Jammu and Kashmir

According to a statement issued here on Sunday by Reconciliation, Return and Rehabilitation, a political outfit of displaced community, the party demanded stopping of the issuance of domicile certificates until displaced Kashmiri Pandits are rehabilitated in Kashmir.

“It seems that Government of India (GoI) is busy in pleasing the non residents and other refugees at the cost of Kashmiri Pandits,” the statement said.

The present government had said that the migrant and other displaced Kashmiri Pandits will be rehabilitated in their respective (10) districts of the valley. But so far there has been no movement in this regard.

“We demand that the GoI must come out with the Kashmir Pandit rehabilitation policy before issuance of domicile certificate to any person,” statement said adding the process of issuing of domicile certificates be stopped immediately....
