Backyard Horticulture programme launched at Jaswan


Jammu, September 14 (Scoop News)-Horticulture Department Monday launched the Flagship programme “Backyard Horticulture” under the CAPEX scheme, here at Panchyat Jaswan.
Under the “Backyard Horticulture” programme, at least three fruit plants costing Rs. 200 will be distributed among the farmers at 90% subsidy covering 600 households in Zone Marh. The main aim of the programme is to promote organic fruit production for home consumption and to fulfill their individual requirement.
A demonstration on the cultural practices to be adopted while planting these fruit plants in the backyard of the houses to keep away the insect and diseases was also given to the farmers. The farmers were advised to plant these fruit plants in their backyard of the house to increase the green cover for preservation of the environment.
On the occasion, Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak impressed upon the farmers to avail maximum benefits from the departmental schemes to enhance their farm income.
Sarpanch, Narinder Singh Jamwal, panches of Panchayat Halqa Jaswan and local people, besides other departmental functionaries were present on the occasion.
